Maxime,
I understand that you were probably just trying to repost an archived message written by someone who gained a lot of weight while taking Nardil. While I think it was helpful of you to quote the message that you did to demonstrate just how rapidly one can gain weight while taking Nardil, I would like to urge you to be more careful in identifying the Psycho-Babble member who posted the message.
The message that you quoted was posted by the member "Nardil" on December 30, 2005, and is available at the URL below:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20051221/msgs/593378.html
The message posted by "Nardil" was written in reply to a message that I had posted earlier in the thread, as indicated by the first line of text that you quoted ("In reply to Re: Nardil weight gain (poss. trigger) » forgetful mary, posted by Tomatheus on December 24, 2005, at 12:10:37").
Because you reposted the "In reply to line" of "Nardil's" message without posting the line above it ("Posted by Nardil on December 30, 2005, at 7:53:32"), one could easily infer from reading your post that it was *I* who gained 50 lbs/year while taking Nardil. The "In reply to line" that you quoted listed my username and that of "forgetful mary," but did not include the name of the Psycho-Babble member ("Nardil") who actually wrote the message that you quoted.
Fortunately, I did not gain a massive amount weight while taking Nardil. And unfortunately, I did not experience a sustained-enough antidepressant response on any of the Nardil versions that I took to have any reason to stay on it for a year.
But to respond to your question about Nardil and weight gain, I do think that I gained some weight on Nardil. I didn't actually get on a scale to check my weight while I was taking Nardil, but judging from the amount of extra fat that seemed to build up on my legs, arms, and abdominal area, I would estimate that I gained maybe 10-15 pounds over the 3-4 month period that I spent taking Nardil (I think I'm recalling that correctly). For me, gaining 10-15 pounds was no big deal, but I would say that I probably gained more weight on Nardil than I did on any other medication that I've ever taken (judging from the amount of body fat that I accumulated -- or didn't accumulate -- on various medications).
At any rate, I know that my message (the one that I'm writing right now) is kind of nitpicky, but I just wanted to point out that I did *not* gain 50 lbs/year when I was on Nardil, and I wanted to ask if you could please include the name of the Psycho-Babble member who posted an archived message when quoting the archives in the future. I obviously don't own this site, and I'm not in a position to make demands of anyone. However, I think that it would be in everyone's best interests if quoted material from the Psycho-Babble archives could be attributed to the name(s) of the member(s) who wrote the material.
