I see that selegiline is listed as contradicted in the strattera monograph. EMSAM is also listed (emsam being nonselectively an MAO-A/B inhibitor, selegiline only inhibiting MAO-B within normal dose ranges).
as they both work on different neurotransmitter systems (although a related one since DA > NE?) i wouldn't intuitively assume the two would cause problems together.
could it be dangerous? if it wouldn't be while selegiline still retains it's selective MAO-B inhibition, i'd still be concerned dosing with the liquid citrate as the sublinqual administration has been shown to raise bodily concentration of selegiline 5 fold over oral metabolism. apparently 5mg sublingual selegiline = 25 mg of oral selegiline HCL (i have an abstract if anyone is interested), potentially entering nonselective territory. nonetheless, i've never heard of anyone encountering a hypertensive reaction at such a dosage of the liquid. thoughts?
