I understand and agree. My doctor told me that though it's contraindicated, in much research and his own experience it is safe and effective. Obviously the patient has to be responsible and he monitored me closely. He was more concerned about me eating cheese again than he was having a reaction to the med cocktail. Regarding SSRIs, I have the same tendency as you - they make me more depressed. Only Prozac at a low dose and with a stimulant is ok for me. I had so much hope for the Parnate and Ritalin but I couldn't handle he other side effects (unrelated to the stimulant).
I think there are good psychiatrists out there that think outside the box, but you have to look hard. If you decide to look for a new pdoc then I'd consider looking for one with a special interest in research and treatment resistant depression. That's where I think you'll find more doctors who consider unconventional or cutting edge treatment.
