>so if i understand correctly, you're saying that higher doses of tianeptine actually may be counterproductive for a mood-lifting goal, at least in you? does seem like a mood stabailizer then.
No, it still works as a mood brightener at high doses, but it didn't push me into hypomania. At first I needed higher doses, 4 tablets+, and it did make me feel very good, but not manic. I found it good for anhedonia. That's the thing I like most about tianeptine - it actually makes me feel well again, whereas I didn't get that with SRRIs at all. They just made me feel numb and indifferent.
What I'm saying is that tianeptine does make me feel very good, but it's a gentle, mellow feeling, not a speedy high like with Parnate. I think this might be what you've come to associate with an antidepressant response from your previous experience with hypomania, because this is the only time you've experienced a complete remission of your symptoms. With tianeptine it has been possible (at least for me) to experience a complete remission of symptoms (and a very rapid one) without that edge of hypomania. It's worth bearing in mind that hypomania isn't really sustainable, and an antidepressant that causes hypomania might run the risk of making you more unstable by inducing rapid cycling in the long term.
Tianeptine hasn't been great for drive, concentration and motivation - something I associate with noradrenaline. I'm considering adding bupropion to see if these can be improved. I once took tianeptine with reboxetine, and it was awful, but that turned out just to be the reboxetine (it feels horrible to me even on its own). I remember bupropion as being kinder. If you're looking for an added speedy edge I'd suggest you try adding a bit of bupropion to tianeptine before moving on to Parnate and Nardil. I'll keep you posted with my results.
