I started with Xanax, worked well taken as needed for those panic social situations; probably within 10 or 15 minutes of taking it. (At 0.5 mg) Then my pdoc switched me over to Xanax XR and kept the dose at 0.5mg -- this made the normal effective dose spread out over a 24 hour period which I found essentially useless. Have since switched to Klonopin and have been taking it at .75mg 2x daily. Seems to work fantastically, but have left me somewhat melancholic... moreso apathetic. Definately couldn't care less about being in social situations, so much so that I tend to just zone-out and rather than being nervous I just am not an 'active' part of the croud. So I am going to switch back the the Xanax XR at 2mg and see if it is any better, I will let you know. Good luck! Either way I think they are both better than any SSRI/SNRI could ever be for anxiety.
