In reply to Nardil really is the bomb, huh?, posted by Frankie on February 16, 2002, at 18:09:18

> I have been recently in contact with a guy who has a website on social phobia, and he too swears by Nardil. I will say this. I took St. John's Wort for like 3 years with really good success. I did not even take the standard dose either. Just 600 mg. a day. I bring this up because it has MAO-I action. I am sure that the action of this herb could not even compare with Nardil's effects though. So, I believe all the hype of this stuff. But, tell me about the dietary restrictions, for future reference. I want the truth. Can you eat things that it says you can't with this medicine? This guy says that you can. And, how severe are the side effects of weight gain, nausea, etc...? Anyone on Nardil, respond if you will please. Thanx.

> Frankie. The potential dangers of violating the dietary restrictions deserves respect and serious consideration. My research indicates that there is some "margin" of tolerance and individual variations that may enable you to violate the dietary restrictions without severe consequences, but there doesn't appear to be a "safe" way to find out. Personally I adhere to the diet and OTC med restrictions extremely rigorously. I will never play "russian roulette" by trying beer, pizza, et.al to "find out" if my system can handle it. Even if remote, the potential consequence of death is not one I'm willing to gamble with. Just one opinion from the "for whatever it's worth" department.
