Cortisol connection

Posted by jrbecker on July 2, 2002, at 2:21:57

In follow-up to some past threads on the question of an overactive endocrine system and how excessive cortisol might play a role in anxiety/depression, I've become really curious as to what specific meds anybody has tried and what they thought. The big ones I've heard of are Ketoconazole, Procaine HCl (Anticort), Aminoglutethimide (Cytraden), Metyrapone, and Trilostane. Anything good to report?

Also, has anybody's pdoc been willing to prescribe these meds are do you have to see an endrocrinologist? Would love some feedback.
Thanks

JB
