I have found that when I'm in the throes of depression (like when I went cold-turkey off prozac because I "didn't need it anymore") that I just can't seem to face getting out of bed and having to actually interact with people, etc. At those times I will often call in sick. However, what I have found is that, similar to one of the earlier posts, if I can drag myself out of bed and get into work, often the interaction with other people and just the work itself which for me is very intense at times, often helps pull me out of my depression a bit and I can start feeling a little better.
