I also participated in an rTMS study on the East Coast. I was able to drive myself to and from the treatments which was much more appealing than hospitalization or finding someone to take care of me. The treatment took about 45 minutes each day. I had two weeks of treatment with very few side effects--just a slight headache occasionally. Nothing an advil couldn't get rid of quickly. I felt a little better, but it didn't last for more than a few days. A friend of mine who was looking for an alternative to ECT which, while effective, was very time consuming and incapacitating for him, also tried the rTMS with much better results. He is hoping to get approval for another series of treatment and then maintenance treatment. I saw you were given the names of some other places working with TMS. I encourage you to try it. Good luck!
