effexor- will surely have to do this one slowly
lamictal- again slowly, it is an anticonvulsant after all
klonopin- same thing
seroquel- figure this one won't take long, it's just 50mgs, so 50mgs tonight, 37.5 for a few days, 25 for a few days, 12.5 for a few days and then that's it
the effexor is going to be a real pain, but those lovely little capsules open up, so I can take less and less over time
wish me luck :-)

That's a great way to approach things. In my experience with Effexor, it is not necessary to allow withdrawal symptoms to appear and persist. I would simply take whatever minimum amount that will cause them to disappear whenever they emerge. Gradually, you should find that you need less and less Effexor to allow the same interval between the appearance of withdrawal symptoms. I find nothing wrong with dosing 4 times a day. I would remain flexible rather than stick to a rigid taper schedule.

Do you have a plan?
Would you slowly reduce the doses of all your drugs at the same time?
You sound as if Seroquel will be the first one to finish with.
I'm very struck on Babble with the number of people on multiple drugs who seem to cope (ie they have jobs and they can work).
It always seems odd to me, except for those who managed to get what I see as attractive combinations, how I don't know.

I can't tell if the meds help or not. The first thing I'd get off of would be the seroquel, that's the only one I'd have a plan for so far.
I don't know about the med combo thing, I just know that it was rough in the beginning, I wasn't on much medication, was preoccupied with being uncomfortable in socially demanding environemnts. Now, I'm still uncomfortable, but less so after med increases and much experience in the work setting, but the anxiety is always there. I have a hard time getting to work now though. I'd have to be careful about making it even harder to get to work.

At least you are not under any illusions that you *should* be comfortable in such situations.

I do want to be comfortable in those situations. I'm always on edge...it's incredibly exhausting.

Yes, but have you ever been?>I'm always on edge...it's incredibly exhausting.
It has been a source of wonder to me why this should be so. I can't see it changing much for me now. Being able to leave is important for social situations but not, alas, for the situation you are referring to.I have always been fascinated by how easy it is for some people to lose control of themselves. In "Happiness" there is a wonderful scene where Joy goes to the Russian taxi driver she had sex with to retrieve her guitar. While there, being abused in Russian by the wife, she notices he has also stolen her sound system. When she asks for it back he says something like
'I need a thousand dollars.'
'I don't have that much.'
'How much have you got?'
'I've only got $500.'
'That'll do then.'
They go to get the money. She gets her guitar back, but maybe not the sound system. It is one of my favourite scenes in a movie. How do people end up in situations like these?
This is the end of the thread.
