First of all, my cat went missing for 48 hours. horrible thoughts running through my head. anxiety very high. then he came back right before I had to leave for T (((CAT))))
At the end of the session, I asked whether T had any cats or dogs. T said that they had a kitten. I was really excited. T went and got him (his office is at his house).
I got to play with 12 wk old cream tabby kitten for a good 10 minutes at the end of session (((kitten))) so cute and adorable. I was so happy and relaxed by the end of the hour. what a nice T to share his kitten with me. :)

I think that T's should have pet therapy as standard practice. My old T used to bring her old dog and at first he didn't like me, but I didn't take it personally. I think HE needed therapy :-)
And my very first T, back during the last ice age, had a lovely dog in her office too, and had a collection of stuffed toys for people to hug during sessions. She had to keep the dog outside the office because he suffered from flatulence...
Makes me think that at the very least I should be bringing something to hug and pet during my own sessions now, since my anxieties have been running high. I don't think my cat would cooperate, and I know she wouldn't fit in my purse.

Animals are the wise ones. While we run about and create complications in our lives, worry about everything. All the caveats of our perceived progress.
Then there they are. Serene and awaiting attention. Only motivated by hunger and a desire to be loved.
I find it an oddity, perhaps even a flaw, that a stray cat upon approach can make a person bend down. Possibly get some kind words followed with a soft hand across the fur. Possibly be picked up and later given some small snack or even a meal. But if I were to stand on the corner, arms outstretched, awaiting a caring embrace. I would be thought a loon. Perhaps escorted away by the authorities.
I'm saddened by our seeming loss of random compassion. That the fear of this world suppresses our loving nature.
I'm new to babble, and I think that is why I am here. Here is cultivated a rediscovery of that nature. It's a beautiful thing to perceive, and it makes all of us here better people.

Hi!
how wonderful that you could play with your T's kitten, how sweet...and a way to show your T another part of you.My T has shared about her pets, she has told me anecdotes about her dogs and cats...
and not long ago, I took my guinea pig with me to my session. My T talked to him and petted him and it was so wonderful to me. I also kept him on my lap and then put him in his travelling bag where he ate :-). It was a sweet moment that I could share with my T. Hearing her interact with my loved pet meant the world to me.

Thank you for sharing such a wonder impromptu therapy moment. It's nice that he felt so comfortable to go get his kitty to share with another kitty lover.
In general, do you like going to therapy at his home? Ever have any awkward family moments ... like you hear his kids screaming at their mom? his wife driving down the driveway as you drive in?

Li, that is so nice that he shared his kitten and it sounds like a nice way to end Therapy. I too think it should be a mandatory requirement! Animal therapy. Although my little filly who is only 2 would not fit in my therapists office no matter how big LOL :) Although she, Coco is her name, would love to go as she thinks she is a human and not an equine.

I hope you don't think I am mean but I cracked up when I read this because it is soooooo true. WE are a flaw society. Maybe it is easier to trust a stray cat easier than a stray human?

My old T used to have this little beanbag pillow that I would play with during therapy. I miss that. sometimes I fiddle with my coffee tumbler, or with a water bottle but the kitten was a true joy!

>yeah, I felt so privileged :)
> In general, do you like going to therapy at his home?
yeah, I do. It feels more personal somehow. But sometimes that can be turned around into "more invasive". The office is ever so slightly smaller, so it's harder for me to hide...
>Ever have any awkward family moments ... like you hear his kids screaming at their mom?
not so far! I think his kid's in school during my appt.s
his wife driving down the driveway as you drive in?
(phew! separate driveway for clientele, separate entry, etc. a lot of things arranged so that it won't be so difficult.)I also see him at his professional office, which has very similar furnishings as to minimize the distress caused by seeing T at 2 different offices.

OK now I am not sure how to take you but you have a gift with words and humor I am thinking.
Again, you made me laugh and laughter is definitely something we all can use to help us.
I only hope I didn't offend you earlier.......I didn't mean to and I see now that I could have offended you earlier. I do have a weird sense of humor at times. So forgive me.

Another guinea pig lover! Yeah! I have two and I just ADORE them. They are so sweet and make the cutest little noises.
I discovered today that they LOVE baby bok choy. So tomorrow I go back to the market....
Cavies RULE!

You know bodhi, I know a lot of animals - from guinea pigs to horses to tigers to vultures. I spend LARGE chucks of my life around animals.
While a desire to be loved maybe true of the herd or pack animals, I just gotta ask - have you ever owned a cat?
Trust me, if they are going to be loved - it's gonna be on their terms. ;)

I'm going on vacation for 3 weeks and won't have a kitten or therapist available to me.
If I start feeling glum or psycho, I am so glad that I have that image of kitten playing with me and letting me pet him. such a sweet playful thing.

Hi Seldom :-)
That makes me smile that you adore guinea pigs too!
I have two as well and I love them so much. I've had them for 2 years and a half. They are so funny and adorable. I love to hear them wheeking. It was wonderful to take one of them to meet my T. She loved meeting him too.
Guinea pigs are great :-) Something I love about them is how you have to gain their trust, slowly, with patience and love (and food, of course)

That reminds me of Phaedo, my cockatiel. When I first got her she was very wary of me, running/flying away whenever I tried to pick her up. Now, I merely hold my hand in the air and she lands on it. She won't let me out of her sight. If I leave the room she calls over and over till I come back.
I work with computers, so I'm in front of one quite often. Her favorite place is on my desk between my arms while I type. She just sits there and anxiously awaits a head scratch or a dorito chip.
Pets of any sort are a thing to be treasured. They can always bring joy to a person's life.
