Ok - so I'm really confused and frustrated.
I loved the great sleep I got on Seroquel, but hated the daytime irritability (quick to anger) and needed a little boost for daytime depression.
This sounds like a simple task. Why is this so difficult?
My doc has suggested daytime Abilify, Parnate, or Geodon.
What brain chemicals am I missing that would be causing me to be irritable during the day?
Geodon makes me depressed, flat and tired.

Does Wellbutrin make you equally irritable?

What am I missing?I think you are looking at a sensitivity to NE reuptake inhibition when it occurs in certain areas of the brain. Even so, I would not discount the TCAs. You might respond well to a drug like nortriptyline, even though it also produces NE reuptake inhibition. There is so much we don't know about these drugs, to try to predict which drugs will help or hurt is an elusive endeavor.

I'm also thinking of sticking with the Seroquel at night to sleep.
Maybe the Seroquel and Abilify is overkill. Maybe I should try to lower the Seroquel while taking the Abilify.

Hi SheilaC,
has your Seroquel daytime irritability improved?
Im also experiencing this right now.. taking only 25mg Seroquel at night (since 1 week).. I sleep quite ok now, but I actually feel much more depressed and irritable during the day..Scott, thanks for your great informations!!
Would you say in my case it could also be the NE uptime inhibition at a dose as low as 25mg?How much do you take Sheila?
Thanks

Hi Sunbath, I take 50mg at night and sleep great. I do still have daytime irritability. Recently, I tried Pristiq, and I didn't have the irritability (just felt nothing, numb, but not irritable). So, I'm not sure what med I need to take during the day. I feel like I've tried them all. But I love the sleep I get on Seroquel. Just need to find something for the daytime irritability and anxiety.
This is the end of the thread.
