Has anyone here been on this combo? It seems to be rare. I was prescribed clomipramine today and plan to take it with Remeron 15-30mg. Are there any precautions for this combo?

I have only been on Remeron, so I can't speak to the combo. But I just wanted to wish you good luck! Take care, Kat

You might find that you can easily taper off mirtazapine whilst taking clomipramine. You might not need mirtazapine any more.

>Ok. I like to keep Remeron, just because it counteract side effects like nausea, decreased libido and allover sexual performance, plus I sleep well on 30mg. My sister has done very well on this combo for many years.
I'm going to start cross-taper tonight, taking 25mg clomipramine now (with Remeron) and 75mg venlafaxine tomorrow morning. Will probably do that for a few days. Venlafaxine is not really famous for its mild d/c symptoms but I hope it will work.
Since this combo seems to be rare for depression, maybe I get to name it? Perhaps the "Finnish ice breaker" combo or something, LOL :)

I expect clomipramine will block most of the venlafaxine withdrawal symptoms.

That sounds more like a cocktail Mattias :)

Very nice combo! At what dose of Anafranil do you want to go?Indeed ,Remeron seems like a clever addon thru his 5ht2a, 2c and 3 antagonism to any SRI or SSRI.I particulary did well always with Anafranil, it was/is miraculous for me.Tried this combo for a week or so many years ago but unfortunately I don't remember how it was or how i felt.I suppose that were sugar cravings and some sedation. At that time i was super sensitive to psychotropic meds and very inconsistent with sticking with a treatment.Good luck, looking forward for your progress :)!

Hey Tensor,
How's your "Finnish ice breaker" :)?
Do you sleep well on it?
How's the sedation, your appetite and overall energy? Thanks

Not too bad. I have had energy todo something the last days, it's been fun to get something done. Although I often get a transient surge in mood and energy when changing meds or doses, but I keep my fingers crossed. S/e-wise nothing to whine about yet, but I'm only at my second day at 50mg of clomipramine. Another good thing is that I don't need daytime naps now, and I easily fall asleep at night and sleep through the night. No daytime sedation, my appetite I would say is normal, no cravings.
I think I will go up to 75mg of clomi (with 30mg Remeron) and stay there for awhile and see how things develop, I don't want to take an unnecessarily high dose of this med.Kind regards,
Mattias

Hello Tensor!
I'm glad for you that your wise cocktail works so far!I hope for good!I'm on clomipramine too, at 50 mg/day plus maprotiline (NRI) at 75 mg.I also contemplate to exchange the maprotiline to Remeron at 30 mg because i'm experiencing some residual anxiety and i think that remeron thru his 5ht-2a, 2c and 3 antagonism will help me get rid of it.Thanks for sharing your state, and i'll apreciate if you'll report from time to time how's going.
All the best and kind regards!
