50mg of Pristiq has helped with my anxiety & depression. But the side effects of severe constipation and feeling numb, (everything below my waist is dead!), I may have to consider another med.
I know that Effexor is in the same family. I'm guessing that 50mg of Pristiq is really hitting my norepinephrine more than serotonin (not sure what 50mg of Effexor is equivalent to).
I need a drug that isn't too strong in serotonin (no SSRIs).
Would a super low dose of Effexor be similar to Pristiq without the numbness and constipation?

effexor is basically the same thing, well pristiq comes from effexor (effexor gets turned into pristiq in your body)
They are very serotonergic, personally i found them the worst for the side effects you are having especially emotional dullness and sexual dysfunction.Have you ever tried ciprimil or lexepro? I had a uch better time with those even though they are ssri's.

Wouldn't Lexepro be heavy on the serotonin? Usually the SSRIs bother my bladder (for some reasons drugs that have really effect serotonin cause me urgency, frequency, bladder pain, etc.)

I think you'd be in the same situation with effexor, only w/ more side effects potentially. Have long have you been on Pristq?
I wonder what others will suggest.
(My other choice was emsam patch.)

> fbHi FB, thanks for the suggestion. I may try going back to a tiny dose of Abilify. The only things I didn't like about Abilify were the water retention and feeling bloated all the time. But it did seem to help my depression. I've experienced water retention with other drugs like high dose Seroquel and Risperdal. Not sure why this class of drugs makes me swell up.

Luvox is about the weakest of the ssri's.
