My pdoc is not reluctant to try new things & sometimes its overwhelming for me. Last visit I walked away with gabapentin 300 mg to take at bedtime and Delpin, a folic acid supplement that can cross the blood brain barrier & that supposedly 70% of depressed people lack the enzyme to process folic acid which is needed for neuro transmitters to work. I read that it is used with AD for resistant depression, but I am not sure about just a monotherapy. I have depression off & on & am moody/irritable off & on.
I already take Adderal XR 10 mg twice a day for ADD & Xyrem for narcolepsy. I also take a boat load of meds for lupus.
I have to admit I brought up the gabapentin to him, but he said he was going to suggest it. We did not talk much about it since time was up. He even forgot to give me my Adderal Rx & I had to come back for it. However, I did not like the gabapentin, felt way too apathetic & tired after just one dose, but that could have been just me. I was in a bad place. But I stopped it. Does anyone have luck with just gabapentin? I might try it again a little later this month.
I think I will stick with the Delpin for a while. Any one else taking this? Does it help?

Surfergirl there are a lot of old threads on Deplin in the archieves. I myself tried it for two weeks. I think one person did really well on it. Quite a few tried it and no longer take it. Seriously read the archieves for older thread. Did you google official website of Deplin? Love Phillipa

I take it but honestly cannot tell you whether it works or not. If anything, it gives you a little more energy.

Hi
Just wanted to say there are a few threads above on gabapentin as I have recently tried it.... I started at 100 though and took a week to get to 300...... the side effects went away for me but so did the releif... (although it is still working a little bit for the irritability I am now depressed.....)..... Babblemail me if you want more information - your situation sounds somewhat similar to mine....:) .......

Deplin helps with psychical, but more...mental thinking, it's more a PharmaVitamen.
Took it, it helped, but didnt help with concetration, helped with feeling better with depression, yet, that was a while back. I've taken Prozac a long time, it worked ok with, that was 2 years ago. It set's a platform, or stimulates the antidepressant, yet, in time, the mind sit's back, and let's the medication do the slack, (tolerance to medications from years). That's why, inside, gotta be aware of this, it's natural. When you withdrawl, from barbituates, alprazolam, it causes siezures, the electricity levels go sky high because the alprazolam, well mainly barbituates, lower electrical threshold's to a low level, when taken off, the brain's circut's have no "top", or limit, and siezures will begin. More effects are severe with barbiturates, yet they are great for sleep, habitation in the past, from Monroe, alot of patient's, it switch away from them, better things than them now.
Some insight.

Yeah, as mentioned there are things in the archives.... I don't remember what it did to me but its not innocuous completely.
I think it raised anxiety, don't recall.
