My pdoc is not reluctant to try new things & sometimes its overwhelming for me. Last visit I walked away with gabapentin 300 mg to take at bedtime and Delpin, a folic acid supplement that can cross the blood brain barrier & that supposedly 70% of depressed people lack the enzyme to process folic acid which is needed for neuro transmitters to work. I read that it is used with AD for resistant depression, but I am not sure about just a monotherapy. I have depression off & on & am moody/irritable off & on.
I already take Adderal XR 10 mg twice a day for ADD & Xyrem for narcolepsy. I also take a boat load of meds for lupus.
I have to admit I brought up the gabapentin to him, but he said he was going to suggest it. We did not talk much about it since time was up. He even forgot to give me my Adderal Rx & I had to come back for it. However, I did not like the gabapentin, felt way too apathetic & tired after just one dose, but that could have been just me. I was in a bad place. But I stopped it. Does anyone have luck with just gabapentin? I might try it again a little later this month.
I think I will stick with the Delpin for a while. Any one else taking this? Does it help?
