This should be ok with a small amount of doxepin (25 mg.), right? Even if I were to go above the usual dosage of tianeptine? I am hoping that eventually I won't need the doxepin at all but initially will need it for sleep and anxiety control.
I wish more were known about interactions between tianeptine and other medications.

Hi Kara :)
Finding information of tianeptine's drug interactions is difficult to say the least. Very little research has been done.
>This should be ok with a small amount of doxepin
Probably. I wouldn't anticipate any serious side effects.
Take care

I used Tianeptine with Valium without any problems, accept it taking the edge off (which made it much easier to get on).
Sorry, don't know about the AD though.

Hi Ed,
Nice to be conversing with you again! (It's also nice to know that at least one person here still remembers me.) I'm back to the medication exploration after a long absence so here I am at Babble again. Before I start on tianeptine, I need to get off of Effexor. I was planning on using Zoloft to help with that. It's probably fine to start tianeptine once I'm off of Effexor and Zoloft for two weeks, don't you think (or do I even need to wait that long)? I have some Zoloft here that expired in 2005. It's from a start-up kit with blister packs so each pill is sealed. I wonder if that would be ok to use or whether I need to get a current prescription. My apartment can get very hot in the summer so the Zoloft has definitely been exposed to high temps. My pharmacist told me that it should be fine, maybe lost some potency but that it can't hurt me. What do you think?
I'll let you know how things go with the tianeptine + doxepin. I will later try to drop the doxepin. If I still need help with anxiety control, then I'll try the atenolol again. If I'm taking atenolol, I shouldn't have any trouble combining it with Zyrtec (cetirizine), should I? It's not listed as a contraindication but I just wanted to make certain that there would be no problems between the two.
Take care and thanks for your help.K

Did you need to stay on valium with tianeptine or did you just need to use it initially? I've read that tianeptine offers some anxiety control but it seems to me from reading posts here that it isn't enough on its own. Most posters seem to need to use something else in addition to the tianeptine for adequate anxiety control.

Hey Kara,
I used the Valium for maybe the first 2 weeks? After that when I stopped the anxiolytic effects of the tianeptine seemed more pronounced on it's own.I'd tried starting tianeptine on it's own previously but the inner tension made me cranky, kind of unbearable so I stopped.

I'm currently on 10mg doxepin for sleep, though I've tried up to 75mg (way too groggy). Doxepin at those doses isn't very good for anxiety, though the dose may be too low, according to my pdoc. Low dose Lyrica is a tad better for anxiety, but not much. The best combo for anxiety for me was 10mg propranolol/0.5mg clonazepam. I went off that combo as it did not have much effect on my chronic pain and the pdoc was a tad nervous keeping me on a benzo long term. Nothing helps with stage 4 sleep like doxepin or amitriptyline, however.
I'd like to give propranolol or pindolol another try to see if I can ratchet down my fight or flight response. I'm interested in the protocols of Patrick Wood, M.D. for fibromyalgia. I believe my anxiety/panic is a symptom of that bigger picture.
Good luck!

Low dose (25 mg.) doxepin has always worked like a charm for my anxiety and insomnia. I've been taking it off and on for over 20 years now. I just wish it didn't allow me to sleep quite so well. I end up oversleeping a lot.
Did propanolol adversely effect depression in your case? Have you thought of trying atenolol instead?
I agree that anxiety/panic is the root of so many other physiological problems.
This is the end of the thread.
