Hi,
Can someone fill me in if they have experienced any sexual side effects from being on Xanax or Xanax XR?
I recently was proven correct when I thought Clonazapam was the culprit to libido/impotence. I was put on Lorazipam about 3-4 weeks ago and now that the "more potent" Clonazepam is out of my system, it is more natural and normal.

Xanax has a short half life and is probably the most addictive benzo I have ever taken and it was hell to come off. Paul

Its interesting that you describe Klonopin as being "more potent" -- I've always seen it as a kind of flat, non-gratifying benzodiazepine, but everyone is different.
I haven't heard of benzodiazepines causing excess libido issues -- Klonopin possibly at less than 1%... but anything is possible. Is this monotherapy or are other medications involved?
I wouldn't go to Xanax for monotherapy -- it is more "gratifying" and has a half life in vivo as little as 4-6 hours. I would say Valium, Klonopin, and Ativan, in that order as in vivo half life -- some prefer Valium over Klonopin, vice-versa, etc.

I've been using Xanax for about 5 months. Haven't noticed any impairment at 4mg/day.

>That's a modest dose -- I wasn't referring to impairment -- people adjust to that with benzodiazepines as I should know, being careful with driving and attempting to usually leave extra distance, etc.., but that with a short half life for some people it could lead to dose escalation in monotherapy, plus its a pain to take up to 4x a day (there's XR but I'm sure a lot of insurance companies won't cover it much). But some like yourself are fine on it, and there is no issue.

I take 1-4 mg a day as needed and it makes me very tired and I sleep. That is the only drawback I have noticed.
