I am currently taking 20-30mg/day of Adderall XR for my ADD/ADHD.
I don't know much about treating ADD/ADHD so I was hoping I could get some imput from those of you who have more experience with them. I have heard they work much better when taken on an empty stomach, but not much more.
I need the med simply to be able to focus & concentrate very well. Not for narcolepsy or any purpose like that.
Any impute is really appreaciated, and I especially would like to know:
(1) The best manner in which to take the meds.
(2) The med that worked best for you (and how it helped)
(3) How I can avoid tolerance.
(4) I have heard that shorter acting stimulants like Adderall & ritalin are more effective than longer acting ones like Concerta, etc. Any truth to this?
(5) Does Strattera work, and would it be good for someone with my needs in your opinion?Thank you so much!!

Ritalin is good for focusing.
Adderall is good for socializing and losing weight.I think concerta is better than Adderall XR. But it really depends on what mood i'm in that day. With adderall you'll develope a tolerence faster than you would with the concerta and ritalin.

>I've never developed a tolerance to Adderall at 40mg/day, and took it for a year. I'm now on Desoxyn, and have never developed any tolerance, and have been on it for a year now. Desoxyn's meth. Your milage mage very, but it's not a reason not to try a drug, and I question how prevalent your tolerance concern is when it's taken regularly as prescribed. I've needed to "rotate" meds, but that's b/c I'll gradually get less tolerable side effects months into the same stimulant.
Augmenting with high doses of Straterra is always a wise idea. I'm going on the stuff for the first time tomorrow, and will be at 80mg in 2 weeks. You just need to stomach whatever side effects might occur initially for the first couple of weeks, and you may need lower doses of a stim, so you'll have fewer side effects.
This is the end of the thread.
