> rossMany of us came of Nardil due to some of the side effects, mine was the weight gain. I didn't know how well Nardil worked until I came off of it and my despression and anxiety returned and was miserable. I quickly went back on Nardil and again felt the benefits it has given me. I have been lucky and still able to orgasm at 75mg. I of course had to wait a good 4 months for this to return but now I am able too.........

Nardil saved my life. It is worth dealing with side effects, they might last for months, but they generally go away! Until then, no matter how terrible you feel, remember that help is on the way as soon as you start taking Nardil again. If it worked for you before, it is only a matter of time before it works again! Hang on! You'll feel better soon! We're here for you!

Hi Ross:
So sorry that you are feeling so depressed. I have noticed with four of my friends who had relief from their depression with various medication, they felt so normal that I do not believe they felt that it was the med that was working, but that indeed they had returned to normal and didn't need to take the medication anymore. What a disaster for all of them. They learned their lessen and even with one we still had to convince her again not to do it. I am certainly not saying that this is the case for you, just food for thought.
If you felt well and yet had sexual side effects but no girlfriend, how can one answer that question. We are all so different. Being female, perhaps it is a blow to your ego. I don't know. Again, being female and not knowing much about it, if you did get a girfriend and you were taking Nardil, wouldn't you be able to take Viagara or something else?
I really hope that things happen fast for you and you will be ready to return to work on the 29th at least feeling better if not fully recovered.
And please. I think you should listen to what Ace had to say.
Best of luck.

I've seen the Nardil lovers out there--what about Parnate? At least you're staying within the MAOI class, but maybe you won't have the side effects.

Did all Nardil's side effects go away for you? I don't get the impression that most other people have had the same experience.
I'm tempted to try Nardil, especially because it seems to be so effective for social phobia. But I've never experienced the disappearance of side effects with any antidepressant (excluding initial side effects that lasted only a few days) so I'm dubious about it happening with Nardil.
I've been trying to lose weight, so weight gain is not appealing. And I went for three years with no sexual feelings at all when I took Luvox In fact, I found the idea of sex somewhat repulsive. I don't want that again.
Part of my aim in taking meds is to establish an intimate relationship, but nobody wants to mate with someone who has zero interest in sex and no ability either. It's such a cruel paradox, gaining social ease but losing another essential ingredient of full social interaction in the process.
So do Nardil's side effects genuinely disappear over time?

I have been taking Nardil for 12 years, and with the exception of the last few months, when Pfizer changed Nardil's formula and it started to mess with me, I really don't think I have experienced any side effects since the first few months of taking Nardil. I should note, however, that I am taking a fairly low dose of Nardil (either 15mg or 30mg a day, on alternating days). I did gain about 15lbs when I first starting taking Nardil, and I guess I have kind of come to terms with the fact that ADs tend to have this effect on you, so I have to monitor my diet fairly closely to keep from overeating. However, I _did_ manage to lose all the weight from this diet monitoring and some exercise, so this 'side effect' is not insurmountable.
I don't have too much experience re: social phobia (I take Nardil for atypical depression w/anxiety) but it has been my understanding that it might require more Nardil than what I take. It might do you well to ask some of the folks on this board who take more Nardil than me what their experiences with side effects have been.
I'm curious! Let's take a survey! As for sexual side effects, I haven't noticed any difference. I am female, though, and I suppose sexual side effects might be more subtle for women, but I believe I would have noticed something, and I haven't. So there you go.

Hi,I'll speak for Ross here- I know he hates constipation from any med, and he believes Parnate will give it to him- that's why I think he avoids it.
Ace.
