I think it's the same every where you live in the US. You look up your local social security office and call them and explain that you want to file for disability(that's how it is in SC/NC). They will send you the forms through the mail or you can do it online if you have a printer. It's a lot of forms too! They let you know within 60 days and if denied, you can appeal two more times and if you get a lawyer, most do not charge unless they think you will win b/c they usually only collect if you do win. Try going to www.socialsecurity.gov and see what u get or google SSA or call tomorrow. It's worth a try! If U need any more info., I'm more than happy to help. I'm in my 2nd appeal right now waiting. They turned me down and stated the reasons were my age and education which is discrimination so many lawyers are interested and here, if you win, they back pay from the date your claim was filed.; ) abbey
