It depends what type of laser beam. A CO2 laser would be dangerous. I think it can cut through walls.
The only type of energy weapon I know of that a common person could make is made from old microwave parts. They're sometimes called HERFs ( high energy radio frequency )and they're usually just for attacking electronics( shorting them out from a distance )
I have no idea what type of weapon was used on me. My guess is it was microwave based. If it was a laser they're be a burn mark through the surface of my skin on my forehead.
