Ah... So Blur were right (in a sense) that there are three 'bank holidays' that are called bank holidays - but the other sorts are also called bank holidays... If you get what I mean.
> New Year's Day
> Good Friday
> Easter MondayYup :-)
We get them.> Early May Bank Holiday (first monday in May)
> Spring Bank Holiday (last monday in May)
> Summer Bank Holiday (last monday in August)We don't get them. We get...
-Waitangi day (we celebrate the signing of the treaty between maori and european settlers)
-Regional anniversary (Auckland anniversary where I'm at)
Queens Birthday...
Um... I can't think of anymore. But there just might be...
Labor day. Thats ringing a bell...> Christmas Day
> Boxing DayYup. We get them too.
> And a civil servant is a government worker.. so, tax people, customs people.. all that kind of thing!
Ah. I had heard the term, but didn't get what it meant. Thanks for that.
>They get some extra holidays off each year on top of what the rest of the country gets!
:-)
> interestingly, we get the least number of holidays in all of Europe and the commonwealth!:-(
But compared to the US (dunno about Aus / NZ) we do tend to get a decent amount of holiday from employers!!!
Aus / NZ are part of the commonwealth.
Thats how come we celebrate the Queens birthday.
Did you mean UK??
