Hi Bonnie,
Can't help you much with the GAD or Bipolar, but am quite familiar with Borderline Personality Disorder. Many of the BPD traits can be seen in other disorders, too, so it's hard to say, and probably not something that's possible for you yourself to diagnose.
What are the symptoms that don't "fit" for you?
There are a few things specific to BPD that might not occur in GAD or BP:
--deliberate self-injury or eating disorder
--a kind of "blank" emptiness, hideous boredom that's not just "depression", intolerance of the seeming inanity of others
--black/white thinking: either someone you care about is ALL good, wonderful, amazing -- or they're ALL bad, hurtful, etc. This can switch in the blink of an eye.
--intense "overinterpretation" of others' behaviors, words, facial expressions -- always with a negative, devaluing interpretation for oneself
--dissociative episodes -- raging out of control (parapsychotic episodes) over tiny things, "blanking out", feeling removed from your body, holes and gaps in your memory.
Why not just ask your pdoc why you have the GAD diagnosis, and what your medication concerns are?
hang in,
Helen
