I don't know, for me there is a difference in how my brain processes things. When depressed my brain can barely process even simple things, which tends to create anxiety and self destructive thinking. When I'm stressed my brain can process things, but it is hard to focus on anything but the stressor that is bothering me. When stressed my fighter mentality takes overand I want to crush the stressor(world), depressed I only wish I would get crushed. It seems to me that my depression is caused internally while stress for me is almost always external
