I imagine that there are interindividual differences in the type of effect these stimulants produce. I think there is a tendency for methylphenidate to be "harsher" than amphetamine. Perhaps you will find it more alerting and energizing.

Sometimes, you just gotta admit ignorance and continue with empirical investigations and trial-and-error methodology.
