downgrade of gaba receptors

Posted by rjlockhart37 on May 6, 2021, at 20:18:20

i was reading about detox, in a psych when people are withdrawing from alcohol, or benzos. I read this article saying if the gaba-a site has been down regulated or graded, it causes benzo's to be less effective, or not even effective. They said ually when that happens, a barbiturate has to be used. What does mean exactly when GABA sites have been downgraded. Does it mean it's been overused from a substance so it gets tolerant. When i was being withdrawed in the psych they had to pump the librium up to 200mg, 2 25mg capsules 4 times daily. It was weak and ineffective for a while.

anyways, anyone have any ideas on this
