I had the weight gain problem with Nardil as a young adult. Years later (now middle-aged) I'm still struggling with my weight (which had never been a problem before). I've been taking Parnate for a while. Social anxiety isn't a part of my (mostly "typical"/"melancholic") symptom profile, but I've tried pretty much all the standard ADs, and while none have helped a whole lot, Parnate is the one that has helped most. It is somewhat activating (if you look at the structure it could even be considered an amphetamine analog, depending how you define "analog"). If you do decide to give Parnate a try, the main point I'd want to make is that if you have any cardiovascular health issues, be sure that your BP, etc. are monitored closely, especially when you're first starting it, finding the right dose, etc.
I hope you don't get the infamous weight-gain side effect that causes so many people difficulties with phenelzine, but if you do, my recommendation would be to try to d/c it and switch before you get to a point where it will be really hard to get down to a healthy weight again. Certainly this is coloured by my own experience!
