Reducing escitalopram very slow, not going well?

Posted by mtom on May 15, 2019, at 12:46:01

I had previously reduced my escitalopram (e.g. Lexapro) very slow and gradually due to side effects at higher doses. It was rough even with slow decrease.

Am trying again, reduced by about 1 mg couple of weeks ago and not feeling good. Like an increase in same side effects that made me reduce dose in first place - increased anxiety, jitteriness, lower energy and motivation, vivid dreams, tinnitus, etc.

Reason I'm decreasing is due to having side effects from the drug, especially at higher doses, but persisted (somewhat lesser extent) at low doses. Seems I have worsened and similar side effects when titrating up or titrating down....

Is this normal with such a slow gradual downwards titration? I am super-sensitive to these drugs.
