Hello again.
I have been struggling with major depressive disorder for the past seven years. I have gone through a long list of SSRI's. I did have some relief for three years with a combo of AD and Pregablin. It worked wonderfully for me, and helped both with social anxiety and insomnia. Pregablin has now pooped out. Insomnia started with perimenopause. Not sleeping is horrible for most people but I also have OCD which is triggered by lack of sleep. Doc has just started me on Effexor XR. (From Prozac) It has been a month and I continue having terrible sleep. Last two nights barely a wink of sleep. Do you think that this will resolve over time? It also makes me feel tremulous which doesn't help with social anxiety. My mood has improved, but only if I have a good night's sleep. I am having trouble getting a pdoc and my MD has me in and out of her office in three minutes flat!! What do you think my psychobabble peers. Should I continue on Effexor XR. I am taking 150 mg. Will it continue to cause severe insomnia. I thought at a month the side effects would have resolved. (At baseline I have trouble sleeping.) Or should I go back to an SSRI - Citalopram and request mood stabalizer like Lamictal? Will Lamictal cause insomnia?
