It drives me nuts when people with bipolar disorder don't treat with a mood stabilizer. To put it simply, neurotransmission is greatly enhanced in those with mood disorders and mood stabilizers work to slow that transmission. Antipsychotics do not slow transmission between neurons in the brain - they only block dopamine. Perphanazine is a piss poor mood stabilizer and is probably not the most effective way to treat your hypomania. Have you tried all the mood stabilizers?
Trileptal
Tegretol
Depakote
Lithium
Lyrica
Gabapentin
Lamictal
Keppra
Topomax
ZonegranThe right mood stabilizer will treat your hypomania more effectively than any antipsychotic.
