Contrary response to benzos

Posted by Iansf on July 12, 2014, at 12:55:51

My 30-year-old roommate finds his depression lifted by clonazepam, diazepam and other benzos. But it also tends to make him hyperactive rather than sedated. He's happy with this, but it's driving me batty. And in my opinion, it's not serving him well. I'm pleased to see him no longer lying around doing nothing, but I believe he would be better off finding focus. Ironically, people tend to believe he's on speed when in fact he's on what should be the opposite of speed! Has anyone on this board had a similar anomalous experience with benzos? And does anyone have any suggestions I could pass along to him on ways to get energized in a more moderate fashion?
