Ultradian rapid cycling is rare.
Was borderline personality disorder (BPD) ever discussed? Rapid changes in mood throughout the day is a hallmark symptom. Despite the name, this illness does have some biological underpinnings along with the psychological burden. Risperdal and other atypical antipsychotics can be very helpful in the treatment of BPD. Tegretol or Trileptal have been used with success.
