adaptation to benzo side-effects

Just tried combining 5mg of Valium with 10mg of Parnate and it worked a charm. No irritability, overstimulation, anxiety, etc. Only problem is I feel really dopey and kind of 'stoned'.

Is there an adaptation that occurs with benzos or should I cut back to 2.5mg?

I asked my psychiatrist if the dopiness usually goes away, but he said he wasn't actually sure.
