Availability of Nardil, Future of IMAO

Posted by IX on January 16, 2012, at 13:07:25

Dear. Sirs.

Recently I knew about this support page.
Let me explain. I began with an atypical depression with severe obsessions at the age of 18. After a treatment with an IMAO (Marplan) I had complete disappearance of the symtoms. Due to a shortage of the drug I changed to Nardil (another iMAO) and the response was the same: complete control of the symptoms.
Until today (30 years with Nardil, 45 mg, 56 years of age) I have no symptoms and I actively work. I have a normal family with four sons.
Every time I treated to change the drug for another (Triciclics, SSRI, Lamictal, Benzodiazepines etc.) the symptoms reappear and I did not get any result.
As a foreigner (I live in South America), is very complicated to get the drug in the USA, and I fear the discontinuation of Nardil off the market.
Seeing this page apparently the drug is commonly used in the USA.
By the other side, during my life I have seen hundreds of complications with common drugs as Insuline, Hypoglicemiants, Antiacoagulants, SSRI, antiarrymtmics, antibiotics etc. (my job is related with medicine), and I suppose the image of the toxicity of IMAO has been overemphasized.
I will be very grateful if you respond my letter a give me information about the availability and the future of these drugs in the USA.
