I hope Lou doesn't scare you too much. He is certainly entitled to his opinions, but his is not the majority on this site, nor the world at large.

One question, have you been on another ssri for 10+ years? I am confused from your posts exactly what you are taking now and what you have taken in the past.

Assuming this is your first go at an SSRI then you should know that SSRI's are known for possibly causing some pretty intense start up anxiety. I was a mess for a week or two when I started up on lexapro.

One current theory is that by increasing the synaptic seretonin levels you overload the post-synaptic receptors....this causes initial anxiety. Over the course of a few weeks the body adjusts the response of the post-synaptic neuron and this adjustment is what triggers the anxiety relief.

My advice would be to give it a little more time, but I don't think I would go up to 100mg just yet. I so hope you feel better. We all deserve to feel our best.
