I found that I started becoming less focused on finding a chemical solution for my depressive symptoms when I was on the right medication for my symptoms. It would have been great if I would have had the energy to *either* read messages here or go to a coffee shop and interact with strangers when I was in a state of severe depression, but the reality for me was that I needed to be treated with the right medication before I could do either of those things. Once I was on the right medication for my symptoms, I found myself doing a lot of things that didn't involve finding a chemical solution to my suffering mostly because I actually had the energy to do the things that I wanted to do, but also because I had found the "chemical solution" that I had been looking for.
