In reply to Is Parnate worth trying if SSRIs work somewhat?, posted by bearfan on October 3, 2010, at 19:12:16
I forgot to mention I have tried Emsam and Moclobermide (Manerix) before with some success but increased agitation. I felt uncomfortable around people on Emsam (at least this was the first week). What scares me about Parnate is the drug and food reactions. Before I started Moclobermide, I was on Impramine PM the night before. I read somewhere that its okay to take a tricyclic with a MAOI (or RIMA in this case). I only took 75 Moclobermide that night and I had experienced most likely serotonin syndrome. My heart was beating very fast for no reason and I thought I was having a heart attack or something. I called ER and after taking a few xanax I calmed down. I am sure Parnate would not be nearly as forgiving. Although after SSRI/SNRIs I feel like I hit a brick wall in my depression. I would love to have a normal libido again and be able to stay on something consistantly.
