Many crave carbohydrates during withdrawal, or otherwise when the are depressed. The reason is it temporarily makes us feel better because it temporarily increases tryptophan which is in turn converted to serotonin. So why wouldn't tryptophan supplements do the same thing? It seems many have had bad reactions to tryptophan supplements in withdrawal?
