There has to be an LLMD a lot closer than 8 hours. I mean, I live out in the sticks and there is one 20 minutes away, another 60 minutes away, and the one I see is 3 hours away.
And, you do NOT want an infection control doc unless he claims to be a Lyme Literate MD. Infectious specialists are bound by rigid rules in treating patients which will likely prevent them from using any of the most successful treatments for you. A private practice regular MD who happens to be an expert on Lyme and is known in Lyme circles as an LLMD, that is the kind of doctor you want.
You can find the right one without getting a referral from your own doc.
But check the guy out. Call him. Ask him straight out if he considers himself a Lyme Literate MD. If he has never heard the term or is puzzled, well, enough said. Ask him if he treats patients longer than 12 months for late stage Lyme. Ask him what percentage of his patients get better. Don't be shy. It's your life we're talking about and you have all the right in the world to ask whatever questions you want to guarantee your own success.
As you already know, the wrong doctor will prolong your suffering indefinitely probably until the day you go to the grave. You don't want another one of those.
What city and state do you live in? What type of payment/insurance do you have? Maybe in my spare time and I can help you find some names.
> BB I know and did search the doc and if you are pulsing tetracyclline I also want to. Write. Phillipa ps pdoc said she would get me in to see the infection control doc that has my history and records but eight hours trip? Any other way????
