I don't know the answer to your question, whether Valium is causing an increase in depression.

However, be careful of the fallacy of "post hoc ergo prompter hoc" -- attributing causation to coincidence. Just because you started feeling more depressed after you started taking Valium, does not necessarily mean that the Valium is responsible. Many times in my life, I have suddenly started feeling more depressed, with no obvious outside causation.

Again, I don't know and neither does anyone else. It may be. Just don't jump to conclusions.
