For one thing, it does take a while to build up to working well, but more importantly, I don't think there's any of that floatiness -- it just seems to cut the anxiety, nothing else. Benzos do other things, beyond just cutting through the anxiety, so if you're used to that effect, BuSpar won't feel as though it's doing much. That's my thinking on it, at any rate -- I have heard others voice that opinion, including psychopharmacologists, but I have no idea if there's any actual truth to it.
But I also loved BuSpar's effect on my anxiety -- just wish it hadn't come along with quite the side effects it did for me...
