Psychostimulants + Apathy

Posted by Mrsmith on October 18, 2007, at 14:01:17

On dex and/or adderall in range of 25-40mg per day for some years. Altho there are benefits, here's a potential deal-killer: a progressive flattening of affect, blunting of emotion, and apathy, best described as extreme detachment from the people, events, and problems in my life. Things are quite clear to me - but I just can't seem to give a damn. Moreover, I don't seem to get any enjoyment out of life anymore. A previously on-fire career has languished now for years. Have on occasion added some A/D's, but relief, if any, short-lived. While many sources note the flattening/amotivational side effects of long-term use, I have never seen a fix. Is the answer to just drop the stims or is there something that can be done to reignite them? Any ideas would be most welcome!
