In reply to Sophia--(+ any other MAOIers) how's the parnate?, posted by missjulie on July 10, 2007, at 0:58:13
Hi Ms. Julie,
Yes, parnate seems to be working for me at a dose of 30mg. I too am still contending w/ some insomnia - finding it hard to initially fall asleep, but sleeping through the night. Thank GOD!! I'm also struggling w/ late afternoon sleepiness that usually lasts for a few hours - some days are better than others, usually the more active I am the more likely I can float through and not be too impacted by it. I consider these side effects a pretty small price to pay for the AD effectiveness that I'm experiencing. Don't get me wrong, I am not elated and probably still experience more despair and anxiety than the "average" person, but I feel remarkably better.
I've been treating my insomnia w/ a small dose (.5 mg) of lorazepam, but my doc is concerned about its addictive likelihood and so has decided to no longer prescribe it :( I tired Rozerem last night for the first time and seemed to have an adverse reaction - feel asleep effortlessly but woke up at 3:00 am w/ a banging headache and nausea. I've felt hung over, depressed and kind of anxious all day long and do not intend to give it another night, despite the fact that you're usually suppose to allow 12 days to see how your cycle will really respond to it. Tonight I plan to see if I can sleep "all by myself". We shall see.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you find a non-habit forming solution to your parnate-induced insomnia. I hope the AD effects kick in, too. I did take a longer than anticipated for me.
Sophia
