It seems that clonazepam has a narrow edge when it comes to depressogenicity.
In Japan and Europe, clonazepam is being actively researched as an antidepressant:
interestingly, these researchers seem to think that clonazepam has a preferential effect on unipolar vs. bipolar depression.
i should add that it has long been known that clonazepam and lorazepam are useful in treating acute mania. these researchers however seem to think that clon is mainly useful in unipolar and schizoaffective disorders.

i was mainly curious, after reading these abstracts, as to whether these supposed 'antidepressant' effects generalized to other benzos, other than Xanax, which few describe as depressing. diazepam is the only other benzo that is prescribed as maintainance treatment afaik, hence my question.
