In reply to combining anti anxiety meds and adhd meds, posted by hybhl6 on March 11, 2006, at 15:38:13
I take my Adderall with some Xanax, and I have a history of substance abuse. If you've exhausted your options as I have, and these are the only two meds you're having any success with..then yeah, I think it's warranted. I may be Bipolar I, I know I have ADD, anxiety disorders and OCD. Adderall releases Dopamine and inhibits its reuptake. Xanax has a positive effect on GABAergic neurotransmission, and at some level causes an increase in Dopamine. I don't know much about borderline personality disorder. I do know that with schizophrenics, there's too much dopaminergic activity. Dopamine is very much responsible for the high experienced by people who use coke, opiates, even alcohol to some degree.
> does it not seem to be contraindicated to combine Xanax and Adderal for a person with co-morbid borderline personality disorder, bi-polar, adhd, anxiety disorder, OCD and ODD? Does not Adderal and Xanax increase the levels of dopamine which if I understand correctly a very bad thing for a borderline personality disorder person? Also substance abuse has been an issue as well and has included cocaine and marijuana.
