Hi. I'm not familiar with St. Louis, but I just looked at Dr. Ivan Goldberg's website, "Depression Central." He has a link for doctors throughout the US who specialize in treating mood disorders. He lists two doctors in St. Louis:
1) C. Robert Cloninger, M.D. at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
2) Luis Giuffra, M.D., Ph.D.
Dept. of Psychiatry
One Barnes-Jewish Plaza
St. LouisI must emphasize that I don't know anything about either of these doctors, other than the fact that they were listed on Dr. Ivan Goldberg's website, which is a reputable source.
You said that you have great respect for your previous doctor. Would it be possible for him to help you find a new doctor in St. Louis? Even if he doesn't know someone directly, he may be able to help you indirectly. I have found that, without a referral, it can be difficult to get an appointment with the best and brightest doctors in any given specialty. I think you would stand a much better chance of finding the right doctor if your previous doctor would call or write a letter of referral to one of the doctors in St. Louis.
Good luck. Let us know how you're doing.
Sarah
