Nardil is more of a relaxing medication, Parnate is the stimulating MAOI. I drink my coffee just fine on Nardil, in fact the mild stimulation seems to help me while on this med. When I was on Parnate, I had to cut my coffee consumption down to almost nill. Nardil can cause some hypomania when you first start getting an effect from it. This is kind of a false sence of euphoria is not the true antidepressant effect of the drug. It sure feels good though, when you have been really sick with atypical depression, and can barely get out of bed. Nardil is also the gold standard for relief of social anxiety. 90mg of Nardil with 1mg of clonazepam and my social and generalized anxiety is cut down to almost nothing. In the past I've use bupropion SR with Nardil. The combination is contraindicated, but helped me with the sexual and weight gain side effects of Nardil.Nardil is not addicting, but like any AD it should be tappered and not cut off cold turkey.
Take care,
