"Why has my doctor put me on Klonopin 5mg"
The answer to that is probably because 4 mgs. wasn't effective? Klonopin took a little while to kick in with max effects for me so I do think for a number of folks a buidup time is required.
I think Klonopin is great and it worked well for me without horrible pitfalls. I'm partial to it for that reason, but you can find an equal number of folks who hated it versus who liked it.
I would suggest trying to stick with it for a while and see how it goes. If it's not panning out for you, well, it's not panning out for you.
Why isn't Xanax an option for you ???.... Did your doc explain why? It's used alot with panic states. It's a little problematic due to it's short half life and it burns out fast but the extended release version is a help in that regard for some. And some folks manage very well on just the regular version. Docs are sometimes leery of RXing it if they feel someone would be proned to abuse it. I also don't recall if you have posted about any problems in the past with substance abuse. I'm not asking you about that, just giving that reason as info.
That's about all the input I can come up with.
