I've been suffering from debilitating thoughts since the age of 15 1/2. I'm now 29 years old and I've had my rollercoaster rides up and down through the years and all that ever seemed to work was to just try and suppress the thoughts. I've been taking Effexor 150MG for over 5 years now and it did wonders at first but seemed to lose it's touch over the last 2 years or so. The bottom line is that I've been suppressing these intrusive thoughts for so long and now their running through my mind constantly. I find myself ruminating all day on the same old "What If" situations that pertain to me analyzing my personality and self image over and over again. My pychiatrist just prescribed Geodon 20MG for 2 weeks and then to ramp up to 40MG after that. Has anybody had any kind of success whatsoever with Geodon for Obsessive Thoughts? Any kind of feedback will definitely be of great help to me. Does anybody think a switch to Cymbalta or an increase of Effexor XR would possibly help out at all with alleviating this problem and my depression? I am so debilitated that I don't even want to get out of bed and I have no energy or drive to do much of anything except watch TV and eat. My avoidant behavior has become terrible in the last few months. I'm hoping Geodon is my answer to this mystery. Otherwise I might end of trying ECT of which I've heard some great feedback about. Well thanks everyone.
